Anon
A film about Cybermobbing
Introduction
“Anon” was the outcome of our Bachelor Thesis during our Integrated Design studies. Since we’ve been affected by cybermobbing in the past we wanted to give the victims a voice in an animated short.
Character Design (by Leffie)
Leffie firstly designed black and white characters sheets where she focussed on the art style.
There are three characters: Alex (protagonist), Hanna (sidekick), and Anon (antagonist).
Once we decided on the final style, Leffie designed Hannah. Since Anon is a metaphorical creature, we wanted them to stand out visually by giving their design a different texture.
A turnaround reference was created to aid with the animation later.
Concept art (by Raide)
While exploring the characters, Raide created a couple of concepts exploring the general visual style and palette of the film.
Background design (by Raide)
The background were created in ArtRage, at times split into different layers so we could later move individual elements seperately.
Prop Design (by Raide)
The film mainly takes place in Alex’ room, so Raide explored the furniture. She also created a palette for a day vs night version.
Since monitors take up a significant amount of screen-time in the film, different illustrations of icons and fonts were made.
Animation (by Leffie)
The film was animated with TV Paint using 10fps. One shot was fully completed after another.
